Owlpoo is going on holiday!

Owlpoo is going on holiday!
By owlpoo

All owls need a break from time to time. Owlpoo.com will be flying it’s illustrative wings and heading to a completely undiscovered continent - Asia!

Thailand to be exact ! :)

From December the 29th - January the 13th owlpoo will be exploring the diverse culture of Bangkok, the lush rainforests of Chiang Mai and the beautiful tropical paradise of Krabi.

Hopefully the adventure will inject so much inspiration into owlpoo’s up and coming projects in 2009, and bring depth and character into the projected stories.

Followers have so much to look forward to in 2009. On my arrival back from Thailand, so much time is going to be invested completing the first story, further developing the interface of the website, and I have a good idea for a brand new short animation. :)

Owlpoo was contacted and I will be craeting illustrations for some short stories. I will post inforamtion when I get back, but it’s exciting to have a new project to be working on!

That’s all for now, I hope everyone has a fantastic new year, and all the best for 2009!

Owlpoo.com - Coming soon poster.

I firmly believe in self promoting whilst producing a product. I want the world to know what Owlpoo.com is about even before it is fully completed. A working progress, a suprise to the viewer each time he/she views the site.

Today I am giving a sneaky peak to which characters will appear in some of the stories. I've already mentioned a "foxgloves" story, hence the fox holding a glove in the image! So the other animals' poses will suggest what their story will be about.

Google analytics tells me that just over 100 people have viewed owlpoo so far, looking forward to getting the bussiness cards so I can use the power of "word of mouth" along with internet exposure!

I realised today that you have to be 100% in a good state of mind to animate. Any feelings of depression, hungover-ness and over tiredness and I cannot animate to my full potential.

In my next blog I may reveal an email I received which made me smile! :)

Enjoy the poster folks! Feedback much appreciated!

Fox run cycle animation. www.owlpoo.com

Foxgloves Sneaky peek! ;)

Here is a fox run cycle. It's a sneaky peek of what's to come basically. A scene from the short animated story "foxgloves." I'm not going to spoil the storyline just yet...but I may add some more sneaky peeks soon, so watch this space!

Really enjoying animating, only it is time consuming and frames always need to altered. I guess it's rewarding when you see your animation finally come to life though. Please let me know what you think of the run cycle!

All for now,

Owlpoo Updates!

Well, it's been a couple of weeks since my last blog, just thought I'd keep watchers updated on what's going on in the world of owlpoo!

The website has been launched and I'm beginning to promote it. I'm trying to hunt down a good printing company so I can print out business cards. I'm pleased with the preview site so far, but need to correct a few things. In the next couple of weeks you can expect:-

*A "Skip" button on the owlpoo animation, for people who don't want to see it again.
* A "loading" text on the first frame, because on most browsers, the first frame shows and then freezes to stream.
*A link to the content email. At the moment my contact details are up, but I want to change it so when you click on the contact, outlook express pops up so you can email instantly.
*A continued background image. At the moment, the border of the website is blue, soon, it'll just continue with my artwork. Trees etc.

That should be sorted soon website wise....on the content side of things.....

Content
I'm beginning to create stories for the site and simple animations to accompany them
One story will be called "Foxgloves." I'm not going to provide a spolier on the story! ;)
Another will be called "Rainbow Rabbit"
I have started to create backgrounds for these stories, although it is difficult animating without my lightbox here in Dubai. I may find an alternative method or hunt down a lightbox here.

I also created an "Owlpoo font" the other day. It needs tweaking but I had fun creating it. :) I used a program called "Font Creator" to do this.

That's all for now, back to work! Please leave any feedback or comments!

Many thanks,

Owlpoo.com!

OWLPOO.com - An Organic Illustration Site!

Owlpoo.com is an interactive site aimed at children or adults who want to appreciate animated stories, poetry, illustration and animation.

Organic?
Over the years, technology has developed so vastly that programs can now create anything that can be projected from our imagination. Digital programming has become the standard for creating digital animation.
However, traditional animation has been overshadowed by digital means. People are forgetting the very heart and soul of all the basic processes and traditional methods of animation. Owlpoo hopes to recreate the innocence and fluidity of hand drawn, organic illustration.

Content?
The owlpoo webiste layout will have an interactive interface.
The stories and poetry will be hand drawn and contain simple hand drawn animations.
A gallery will display images that relate to the website and characters.

Appeal?
It contains a strong link to childrens book illustration, therefore would attract writers, illustrators and children of all ages. Anyone who can appreciate the humour of Owlpoo will be fascinated and hopefully will stay on the site!

Completion date?
Owlpoo has been created, but still needs content. The full launch will be in 2009, and content will be added according to demand. You can go to www.owlpoo.com and email look@owlpoo.com with your comments and suggestions. Please do, as every opinion counts!

Thanks for reading!
